With a New Year comes New Year’s resolutions, and one of the top New Year’s resolutions is to get organized. While organizing your life can seem like a daunting task, there are countless, simple ways to get organized that take up very little time and energy. Here, we’re counting down our top three!
1. Label everything - if you have trouble finding things, labeling is a great way to start organizing your life. Labeling can help you remember where things are, not only by giving you a visual cue, but also by forcing you to write them down. It has a very satisfying look to it too, especially if you invest in an actual label maker. Labeling also helps to get you in the habit of putting things in the same place every time, thus making it easier to remember where you put them in the first place.
2. Make a clear schedule for yourself. Organizing your time well can be a very effective way to reduce stress and help your life feel less hectic. Investing in a daily planner is one of the best ways to help get your schedule in order. Writing down deadlines, where you need to be and when, as well as your daily to-dos helps to keep them in the front of your mind. And as an added bonus, if you do forget things, you have an easy place to go for reference. Color coding and organizing tasks into categories can make it easy to distinguish different items and can help you to prioritize as well. It’s an easy change that can have a huge impact on the organization of your schedule.
3. Invest in drawer dividers. If your office desk, silverware drawer or even sock drawer is a chaotic mess, that it’s worth your time and money to go out and purchase a few drawer dividers. Not only will these help you sort through your drawers and decide what to keep and what to throw/give away, but they will give you a place for everything. The end result is a much tidier drawer that will make your life feel all the more organized.
Life can be messy, but that doesn’t mean you have to be. These are just three simple ways to help you get organized this coming year. What are your favorite ways to stay organized? Comment and share your thoughts with us!
